Joseph Alfred Corder, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV, died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born October 26, 1928 in Barbour County, WV, a son of the late Piatt and Gladys Goldsborough Corder. On January 22, 1952 he married Mary Ellen Strader who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Corder and friend Marie Woodyard of Buckhannon and Michell Lynn Corder and wife Nancy of FL; several nieces and nephews and special friends, JD and Delores McCollum and Ruddy and Marge Rowan all of Buckhannon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Piatt B. Corder, Jr., Paul and Ed Corder and three sisters, Alma McCaulty, Lucy Perkins and Mary Alice Corder. Mr. Corder was a member of the Reger Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Friends will be received Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. Burial will follow in the Reger Chapel Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors at the graveside.
