Obituary of Clyde Ballard Grose

Clyde Ballard Grose, age 92, a life long resident of Bridge Run Community, went to live with the Lord on Friday, May 19, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.  He was born May 31, 1913 at Bridge Run, WV, a son of the late Charlie Columbus and Alice Vertenice Allman Grose.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his 1^st wife, Laura Freda (Tenney) Grose whom he married on May 30, 1936; 2^nd wife, Nina Alice (Simmons) Claypool Grose whom he married January 30, 1983; one daughter, Betty Jean Ireland; one brother, Washington Allman (Smokey) Grose; one sister, Christine Grose; one granddaughter, Mary Ann Ireland and great-grandchildren, Jessica and Ricky Ireland.  He is survived by two sons, Charles “Bud” Grose and wife Sue of Mt. Clair, WV and Robert “Bob” Grose and wife Carol of Buckhannon; one son in law, Tom Ireland of Fairmont, WV; two step-sons, Harold and Bob Bailey; step-daughter in law, Connie Bailey; sister in law, Artie Grose of Pennsylvania; special friend and caregiver, Faye Minix of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Rob Grose and wife Jessie and Shawn Ireland and wife Lisa all of Nutter Fort, WV; three granddaughters, Patricia Reese and husband Chad of Alabama, Kelly Ireland of Fairmont and Melissa and husband Mark of South Carolina; three step-grandsons, Danny and Rick Cutright both of Buckhannon and Bill Pittman of Clarksburg, WV; three step-granddaughters, Debra Simmons, Brenda Allen and Tonya Radcliff all of Buckhannon; a niece, Jane Lukic and husband Jim of Pennsylvania; eleven great-grandchildren, seventeen step great-grandchildren and five step great-great-grandchildren.  Mr. Grose was a farmer and construction worker.  He retired in 1979 from Hood & Tenney Home Builders.  He was a member of the Lorentz United Methodist Church, a devoted father, grandfather and a devoted Christian.  Friends will be received Monday, May 22, 2006 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Poling and the Rev. Kay Almond officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lorentz Cemetery at Lorentz, WV.  Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
