Obituary of Billy Ray Reed

untitled2 Billy Ray Reed Billy Ray Reed, age 59, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. He was born October 11, 1952 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Henry Elsworth and Frances Raleigh Koon Reed. On August 31, 1974 he married Barbara June Hoover, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Thaddeus John Reed and wife Crystal of Buckhannon and Travis Elsworth Reed and wife Heather of Albright, WV; one grandson, Jacob Riggleman of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Kelsey Riggleman and Allyson Reed, both of Buckhannon; four brothers, Harold Reed and wife Leona of Buckhannon, Donald Reed and wife Mary of Ten Mile, WV, Jerry Reed and wife Loretta of Tallmansville, WV and Charles Reed and wife Betty of French Creek, WV; one half-brother, Tom Reed of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Jewell Campbell of Buckhannon and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, S. Millie Reed; four brothers, Larry, Bobby, Denvil and Junior Reed and two sisters, Thelma Jean Ward and Mildred Blagg. Mr. Reed was a tool pusher for S. W. Jack and was the President of the Big Bend Cemetery Association. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps and enjoyed family, boating, camping, hunting and fishing. Friends will be received from 5-8 PM Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery at Sago, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Big Bend Cemetery Association, C/O Barbara Reed, P. O. Box 928, Buckhannon, WV 26201. Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7, American Legion, Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663 and DAV Chapters # 5 & 36 will conduct military honors at the graveside.
