Doris Faye Hollen Crawford, age 84, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at her home. She was born August 23, 1933 in Riffe Creek, KY, a daughter of the late James Sterling and Gladys Irene Pierce Hollen. On February 24, 1951 she married Max Richard Crawford who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant sister, Betti Fern Hollen and one brother, Richard Lee Hollen. She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Crawford Garrison of Weston, WV; one son, Mike Junior Crawford of Buckhanon; three granddaughters, Angela and Lisa Crawford and Hope Renee Garrison all of OH; six grandsons, Michael Miller, of OH, Justin Crawford of Clarksburg, WV, Tyler Sterling Corder, Aaron Lee, Zachery James and Ernie Wayne Crawford all of Buckhannon; one great granddaughter, Indie Irene Garrison of Buckhannon; one great grandson, James Michael Crawford of Buckhannon; several other great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Jane Booth and husband Richard of Buckhannon, Virginia Gillespie of Franklin, WV and Joyce Hoover and husband Pat of Buckhannon; one brother, James S. “Pete” Hollen, Jr. and wife Kay of Buckhannon; sister in law, Connie Hollen of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Crawford was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith. She was born in a log house and later attended class in a one room school in Riffe Creek, KY, then in 1946 she moved to WV. She loved going back to visit her hometown. Mrs. Crawford formerly lived on Brushy Fork Road for 46 years before moving into the city of Buckhannon. She also enjoyed gardening and watching the birds; her favorite flower was a Sunflower and her favorite bird was a Yellow Finch. Mrs. Crawford loved spending time with all her grandchildren and talking about her younger days. There will be a graveside service Monday October 23, 2017 at 1 PM in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
