Obituary of Irene Fay Andrew

Irene Fay Andrew, age 86, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, October 30, 2017 at her home. She was born April 23, 1931 in Canaan, WV, a daughter of the late Ezra Perry and Gertrude Riley Strader. On May 17, 1948 she married Ernest Scott “Ernie” Andrew who preceded her in death on September 30, 1987. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by three sons, Scott Andrew and wife Sue of Buckhannon, Ed Andrew and wife Martha of French Creek, WV and Ken Andrew and wife Jill of Buckhannon; six grandsons, Allen Andrew and wife Mary Ann of Okinawa, Japan, Jonathan Andrew and wife Leann and Jeremy Andrew and wife April all of Buckhannon, Nick Andrew and wife Donna of Clermont, FL, Tom Andrew and wife Crystal of Bridgeport, WV and Tim Andrew and wife Miki of Fairmont, WV; one granddaughter, Becky Andrew of Elkins, WV; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Chester Strader and wife Joyce of South Amherst, OH and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Andrew was a Bank Teller at the Adrian Buckhannon Bank. She was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and was an active volunteer, working the community dinners on Wednesday nights and many other church activities. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and volunteered at the Parrish House Clothes Closet in Buckhannon. Mrs. Andrew enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing Bridge and gardening. Friends will be received Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Helen R. Oates officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
