Obituary of Piatt Bryan Corder

Piatt Bryan Corder, Jr. Piatt Bryan Corder, Jr., age 94 of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Hospice Care Corporation of Morgantown, WV. He was born December 22, 1921 in Barbour County, WV a son of the late Piatt Bryan and Gladys Virginia Goldsborough Corder. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Helen Shields, two brothers, Paul Davis Corder, Edward Jackson Corder and one sister, Alma Marie McCulty. On May 30, 1947 he married Lois Louise Ours who survives. Also surviving are his beloved dog, Luna; two daughters, Teresa “Terry” Loudin of French Creek, WV and Connie Corder of Buckhannon; two sons, Roger Corder and wife Cynthia of Elkins, WV and Timothy Michael Corder of Buckhannon; five granddaughters, Kristin Satterfield and husband Stephen of Palo Alto, CA, Amanda Renee Woody and husband Scott of French Creek, Casey Casto and husband Aaron of Elkins, Tiffany Martin of Atlanta, GA and Missy Martin of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Bryan Beihl Corder of Pittsburgh, PA and William B. Shields of Buckhannon; three great granddaughters, Audrey Cynthia Satterfield of Palo Alto, Ellie Kristin Casto of Elkins and Kyrie Woody of French Creek; four great grandsons, Scotty Woody of French Creek, Samuel Jeffrey Satterfield of Palo Alto, Joel Christopher Casto of Elkins and Silas Bryan Satterfield of Palo Alto; one brother; Joseph Alfred Corder and wife Mary Ellen of Buckhannon; and two sisters, Mary Alice Corder of Elkins and Lucy Elizabeth Perkins of Orlando FL. Junior served in the US Army during WW II as a PFC with Co. D of the 339th Infantry and received a medal for his ability as a sharpshooter. He was owner of Corder’s Gulf- Chevron Station and was a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 5- 8 PM. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, April 25, 2016 at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Ellen Finegan officiating. Burial will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Quiet Dell, WV.
