Obituary of Roger Lee Canter

Roger Lee “Doc” Canter, age 74, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, December 10, 2017, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born July 7, 1943, in Oakdale, WV, a son of the late Dennie Madison and Elizabeth Ann Riffle Canter. On June 19, 1978, he married Lenna Loretta McCauley who preceded him in death on August 3, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by fifteen brothers and sisters. He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Lantz and husband Leonard of Buckhannon and Vera Mae Canter of Monett, MO; three sons, Roger Lee Canter, Jr. of OH, William Canter and wife Penelope of PA and Michael Anthony Canter of Peeltree, WV; two grandsons, Timothy Lee Canter of FL and Frankie Canter of Peeltree; three granddaughters, Kadence and Carmen Canter both of PA and Christina Hall of Monett; six great grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Fitzgerald of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Roger was a coal miner for 35 years, an animal lover at heart, an avid motorcycle rider, loved to camp and enjoyed life to the fullest. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
