Obituary of Loretta J. Landis

Loretta J. Landis Loretta J. Landis, age 80, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at her home. She was born October 1, 1935 in Gilmer Co., WV, a daughter of the late Wesley Newton and Frona G. Parsons Sommerville. On March 19, 1955 she married Richard Dale Landis who preceded her in death on May 8, 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Lee Queen; two half sisters, Pauline Greathouse and Lugretta Streets and two brothers, Robert Sommerville and Woodrow McClough. Surviving are four sons, Anthony Landis and wife Mandy and David Dale Landis and wife Michelle all of Buckhannon and twin sons Richard W. Landis of Buckhannon and William R. Landis and wife Mary of French Creek, WV; three daughters, Lora Long and husband Odell of French Creek, Loverna Marie Gillum and fiancé John of Lewis Co., WV and Lenora L. Landis and husband John Butcher of Weston; one sister, Anna M. Scott of Ireland, WV; eight grandsons, Richard Long of Parsons, WV, William Landis of French Creek, Michael Landis, Zachary Gillum and Josh Butcher all of Weston, Issiac and Issiah Landis both of Buckhannon and James Cosner of Mt. Clare, WV; ten granddaughters, Lori Beth Smith of French Creek, Brooklyn, Stormy, Trinity, Kaytlynn, Cyndi and Hannah Landis all of Buckhannon, Jessica Gillum and Dezaray and Roxie Butcher all of Weston. Mrs. Landis was a member of the Mt. Union UMC and a homemaker. Friends will be received Friday, May 27, 2016 from 11 AM until 12 Noon at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Miller and the Rev Mike Wamsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV.
