Obituary of Donel R. Hyre

Donel R. Hyre Donel R. Hyre, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at his home. He was born May 1, 1935 in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Gerald and Wavelene Smallridge Hyre. On July 5, 1956 he married Jo Ann Burroughs who survives. Also, surviving is one son, Donel Hyre, Jr., and wife Brenda of Buckhannon; one daughter, Debra Hyre Bibey and husband James of Elkins, WV; three grandsons, Christopher Smith and wife Rachel of Asheville, NC, Zachary Rainey of Elkins and Justin Hyre of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, Ridge Smith of Asheville; two brothers, Dana “Bud” Hyre and wife Margaret of MD and Cecil Hyre and wife Margie of Miami, FL and one sister, Lora Slaughter of French Creek, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mona Daugherty. Mr. Hyre served in the US Army. He was an avid walker, loved reading his favorite newspaper and wood working. Mr. Hyre is a retired Custodian for the Upshur County Board of Education. Friends will be received Wednesday, June 8, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton, WV.
