Frank E. Williams, Jr.
Frank E. Williams, Jr., died peacefully in his home on June 26, 2016. Mr. Williams was born in Buckhannon, WV on October 27, 1918. He married Jane Elizabeth Krastel on October 4, 1941. His wife of 74 years preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents Katherine Langton and Frank E. Williams, Sr. and two sisters, Kathleen Talbott and Marjorie Tucker. Surviving Mr. Williams are his three children, Jane Williams Urso and husband Samuel, Frank E. Williams, III and wife Amy and Pamela Williams Ross and husband Michael. Also surviving him are eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren and sister, Mary Avis Britton. Mr. Williams graduated from Pennsylvania State University in Mining Engineering. While at Penn State he was affiliated with Phi Delta Theta. He also earned his MBA from West Virginia Wesleyan College. Mr. Williams served in WWII as a Lieutenant (jg) in the Navy. Mr. Williams worked along-side his father at Pecks Run Coal Company and was owner and operator of Upshur Coals in Adrian, WV. Mr. Williams was a life-long parishioner of St. Joseph’s/Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he had been choir director and organist. Mr. Williams served on the Board of Trustees at WVWC from 1974-1991. He was past President of the Buckhannon Upshur Chamber of Commerce and was recognized as Citizen of the year by the Chamber in 1985. He was a member of the Buckhannon Rotary Club and their Hall of Fame. Mr. Williams earned his multi-engine and instrument air plane license in 1976. He was an avid reader and researcher. He thoroughly enjoyed his Wednesday night bridge club, his Thursday ‘’lunch with the men” and his “life discussions” with Jack. Seeing Mr. and Mrs. Williams with their dogs in tow at the River Walk have been a familiar sight; their love of and support of the Upshur County Community will be missed. At the request of Mr. Williams he will be cremated. A prayer vigil will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 4 PM and friends will be received after the prayer vigil until 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in Buckhannon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:30 AM Thursday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Veterans Cemetery. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 35 Franklin Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
