Jocie M. Tenney
Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Jocie Madeline Tenney passed away on Thursday July 7, 2016 at her home. A daughter of the late Josiah and Hattie Tenney, Jocie was born March 2, 1920 in Hemlock. On October 3, 1937 she married Willis B. Tenney, who preceded her in death in February 2012. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Ronald Michael Tenney, sisters Stella Howes, Genevieve Ware, Dora Mason, Imogene Zickefoose, Viola Hanny, and brothers Ernest, Emery, William, Russell, Lewis, Luther, and Arthur Tenney. Jocie is survived by two sons, Elmer Tenney and wife Carolyn, Marvin “Buck” Tenney, wife Shirley and their special friend Christine Payne, and three daughters, Betty Jo Spencer, Shirley “Toots” Cutlip and husband Tommy, and Brenda Sue Gillespie and husband Tommy, all of Buckhannon. She is also survived by grandson Thomas “TC” Cutlip, wife Billie and son Anthony of Buckhannon; granddaughter Kelly Davis and daughter Michaela Reger of Buckhannon; granddaughter Robin Nesbitt and daughter Ashton Ackerman of Buckhannon; granddaughter Carrie Tenney, husband Marshall and children Emily and Brett of Buckhannon; grandson Todd Cutlip, wife Lisa and children Kirstie and Robert Todd of Buckhannon; and granddaughter Rhonda Hollen, husband Cody and children Hayden and Sidney of Buckhannon, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cherished friends. Jocie was a member of the Lorentz United Methodist Church community, and worked many years at the Colonial Motel as a housekeeper. She cherished her family, and enjoyed genealogy. A gifted storyteller, Jocie loved passing on memories of days gone by, and she will be sorely missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Hemlock. Donations may be sent to the church c/ o Carolyn Carpenter 1352 Palace Valley Rd Helvetia WV, 26224. Friends will be received Sunday July 10, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Poling-St Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Holly Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Lorentz Cemetery in Lorentz, WV.
