Obituary of Jerry Allen Willett

Jerry Allen Willett, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born November 25, 1938 in Morganfield, KY, a son of the late Randolph and Lucille Franey Willett. On April 19, 1960 he married Rita Jeanette Greenwell who survives of 56 years. Also surviving are two daughters, Deanna McWilliams and husband Mark of Palm City, FL and Darlene Collett and husband Jeffrey of Chapin, SC; three grandsons, Jeremy Collett of Charleston, SC, Justin Collett of Chapin and Matthew McWilliams of Palm City; one brother, Jim Willett and wife Norma of Punta Gorda, FL and three sisters, Margie Dreifurst of TN, Rita French of KY and Martina Wallace of TX. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Mr. Willett graduated from St. Vincent Academy School. He was employed by S.W. Jack Drilling Corporation, where he advanced to the position of Drilling Superintendent. He retired after 50 years of service to the company. Jerry was a faithful member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church since moving to Buckhannon in 1968. He enjoyed golfing at the Buckhannon Country Club where he was a long standing member. He remembered fondly his hole-in-one on # 9. Jerry was also a life-long member of the Elks Club # 1736 in Buckhannon. A memorial service will be held 10 AM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Buckhannon with Father Joseph McLaughlin as celebrant.
