Obituary of Mary Cathleen Pumphrey

Mary Cathleen Pumphrey, age 89, of Ellamore, WV died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins, WV. She was born January 22, 1927 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Willie Burton and Nola Mae Kittle Phillips. On August 1, 1944 she married Herbert Lee Pumphrey, Sr. who preceded her in death on July 11, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Burton Pumphrey, Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Matthews and husband David of Winchester, VA and Connie Talbott of Rutledge, TN; one son, Herbert Lee Pumphrey, Jr. of Madison, OH; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Pumphrey was a seamstress at Reidboard Bros. Friends will be received Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV.
