Obituary of Reva Gay Thornton

Reva Gay Thornton, age 88, of Rock Cave, WV died Friday, August 26, 2016 at her home. She was born February 19, 1928 in Kanawha, WV, a daughter of the late William Ford and Lottie Oletha Isenhart Haymond. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her 2nd husband, James Melvin Thornton; 1st husband, Ford William Riley who died on Nov. 28, 1968; one daughter, Patricia Riley and six brothers, Calvin, Claude, Burl, Ervin, Ralph and Roger Haymond. She is survived by four daughters, Connie Kinsley and husband Wayne of Buckhannon, WV, Susan New and husband Samuel of Windsor, VA, Nancy Svid and husband Richard of Forrest City, NC and Charlotte Hill and husband Timothy of Wellford, SC; one son, Harold Gene Riley and wife Gayle of Spartanburg, SC; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one sister, Reba Riffle of French Creek, WV; three brothers, Russell Haymond and wife Carol of Crawford, WV, Elmer Haymond and wife Norma of Buckhannon and Jerry Haymond and wife Joyce of Crawford and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Thornton was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Arlington where she was also a member of the choir. Friends will be received Monday, August 29, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Wamsley officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery in Rock Cave, WV.
