Obituary of Evelyn Harkins

Evelyn Taylor Harkins, age 98, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born September 28, 1919 in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Acy and Ada Mae Nelson Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Harkins who died on August 9, 1989; one daughter, Jane Oelkers and one brother, Charles Nelson "Bud" Taylor. She is survived by one son, Mark Harkins of Buckhannon; one daughter, Melinda Little of MS; two granddaughters, Laura Morse and husband Rick of Norfolk, VA and Jennifer Oelkers Gardner and husband Bill of Hickory, NC; one grandson, Ronald David Lindner and wife Theresa of Flower Mound, TX; three great-granddaughters; son-in-law, Bill Oelkers of Hickory; one sister Eileen King of Rockville, MD and a special care giver, Clair Lubin of Buckhannon. Mrs. Harkins was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon and she volunteered for the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 12 Noon until 1 PM the funeral hour with Stella Moyer officiating.
