Obituary of Archie R. Poling

Archie R. Poling, age 77, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born June 21, 1939 in Upshur County, WV, a son of the late Herbert and Hazel Simmons Poling. On September 5, 1965 he married Renna Queen who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Archie Ralph Poling, Jr. and Jodie Puzio, Jake Poling and Sarah Rice and Joey Poling all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Judith Payne and husband David of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Nathan, Dillon and Keigan Poling all of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Breanna Sines and husband Josh and Kierra Poling all of Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Ella Sines of Buckhannon; one brother, Lawrence Poling and wife Doris of Warren, OH; two sisters, Lucille Gillispie of Niles, OH and Freeda Murphy and husband Jim of Morgantown, WV; two sisters in law, Vonnie and Kathleen Poling both of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Wilmer, Howard, Elmer, Rev. Robert and Arden Poling and two sisters, Wilda Slaughter and Kathleen Bailey. Archie loved his wife, children and grandchildren and was known by many as a selfless hard worker. He was a Line Type Operator for the Clarksburg Exponent for over 20 years and then retired from WVWC as a painter. Archie loved music and was a talented guitar player, never turning down the opportunity to play music with friends. He was a 50-year member of the Franklin Lodge No# 7 A.F. & A.M. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckhannon. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 12 Noon until 1 PM the funeral hour with the Rev. Holt Poling officiating.
