Susan Helmick, age 66, of Weston, WV died Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born October 3, 1950 in Rock Cave, WV, a daughter of the late Orville and Pansie Nethken Smallwood. On March 23, 1992 she married Larry Helmick who survives. Also surviving are one son, Stephen Douglas Moore and wife Amy of Buckhannon, WV; three step-sons, Shannon Helmick and wife Addie of Buckhannon, David Helmick of Weston, and Robert Helmick of Oregon; one step-daughter, Teresa Bosley of Weston; two granddaughters, Kristen Smith and husband Scott of Tennessee, and Amber Smallwood of Alabama; two grandsons, Allen Michael Smallwood of Alabama and Conner Moore of Buckhannon; one great grandson Scottie Smith of Tennessee; one great granddaughter, Skylar Graaf of Alabama; two brothers, Harold Smallwood and wife Ethel of Buckhannon and Phillip Smallwood of Bridgeport, WV; two sisters, Jean Taylor and husband Leonard of Missouri and Velva Walton of Rock Cave; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Helmick was preceded in death by one son, Michael Smallwood. Susan worked in the laundry department at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Friends will be received Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 11 AM – 1PM the funeral hour at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with Pastor Kara Phillippi officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Cave Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
