Obituary of Glenda Sue Smith

Glenda Sue Smith Glenda Sue Smith, age 57, of Volga, WV died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at her home. She was born April 24, 1959 in Clay County, WV, a daughter of the late James Blaine and Thelma Jean Meadows Godbey. On August 7, 1998 she married Kurt William Smith who preceded her in death on September 20, 2003. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Kermit Godbey; one sister, Linda Godbey and one brother in law, Donnie Brisendine. She is survived by her boyfriend, Jim Bleigh of Jane Lew, WV; two sons, Michael Paul Harper and wife Tina of Volga and Richard Allen Harper of Stafford, VA; three granddaughters, Taylor Harper of Volga and Skylar Elizabeth and Dakota Faith Harper both of Stafford; one step granddaughter, Mercedes Duke of Volga; one step grandson, Dylan Duke of Volga; two brothers, James Godbey of Cotton Tree, WV and Roy Godbey and wife Karen of Clio, WV; two sisters, Rosalee Myers and husband Teddy and Nellie Brisendine all of Clio; nieces, Rosann Evans and husband Scott of Clio and Michelle Givens and husband Jason of Amma, WV; six nephews, Teddy Myers, Jr. of Clendenin, WV; Shorty Godbey, Roy Godbey, Jr. and Gregory Godbey and wife Susan all of Charleston, WV; Brian Godbey of Clio and Sammy Godbey of Sutton, WV and one sister in law, Georgie Godbey of Clio. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She was a volunteer at the Christmas Store in Buckhannon and was a Baptist by faith. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 9:30 – 11:30 AM the funeral hour with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating.
