Obituary of Inez Joy Smarr

Inez Joy Smarr, age 79, of Tallmansville, WV died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born June 11, 1937, a daughter of the late William Alexander and Flora Catherine Tenney Riggs. In 1982, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arden McCourt. On December 16, 2011 she married Clarence Smarr who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Joseph McCourt of Tallmansville and Samuel McCourt and wife Evelyn of Buckhannon, WV; two daughters, Debra Orsburn and husband Thomas and Patricia Wamsley and husband Jeff all of Tallmansville; two step sons Clifford Smarr of Jane Lew, WV and Todd Montgomery of Louisville, KY; one step daughter, Joyce Marie; thirty three grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Patricia Strader of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Pamela McCourt and two brothers, David and James Riggs. Mrs. Smarr was a Post Master at WVWC and was a member and Treasurer at the Mt. Carmel UMC. Friends will be received Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Karen Frazier and Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery in Tallmansville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel UMC c/o Debra Orsburn 110 Flora Lane Tallmansville, WC 26237. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
