Obituary of Gilbert Zayne Smith

Gilbert Zayne Smith, age 57, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born June 24, 1959 in Buckhannon, WV, a son of the late Ruel Gail and Gweneth Maxine Simmons Smith. On August 23, 1980 he married Sandra K. Post who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Natasha Hawkins and husband Brad of Buckhannon; three brothers, Frank Smith and wife Donna and Melvin Smith and wife Jean all of Buckhannon and Roger Smith of Roanoke, WV and five sisters, Christine Lipps and Judy Smith both of Buckhannon, Alice Simpson and husband Rusty of Weston, WV, Priscilla Hechler of FL and Phyllis Owens of WI. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Tom and Ernest Smith; one sister, Frances “Sis” Harris and his biological parents, Hoy and Madeline Smith. Gilbert was a Well Tender for Enervest. He was a member of the WV Classic Wheels Car Club. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Staff and VAD Coordinators at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Friends will be received Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Junior Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
