Obituary of Dick Heatherly

Dick Heatherly, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon. He was born March 12, 1929 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Omar Clayton and Vada Lane Heatherly. On December 8, 1955 he married Rosemary Thomas who survives. Also surviving is one daughter, Rose Ellen Loudin and husband Chuck of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Adam Loudin and wife Katie of Buckhannon and Jonathan Loudin and wife Marie of Charlotte, NC; one great grandson, Thomas Loudin of Buckhannon and one great granddaughter, Amy Loudin of Charlotte. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Earnest Heatherly and two sisters, Jean Corsale and Louise Marsh. Mr. Heatherly served in the US Army. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 3663, a member of the Moose Lodge # 598 and a member of the Buckhannon Housing Authority. Mr. Heatherly earned an honorary degree from the University of Hard Knocks for the success he had in his management career. He valued the time he spent with his family and friends. Friends will be received Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 3-5 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
