Berma Lovell Dean Rogers
Berma Lovell Dean Rogers of Leland, NC and formerly of Buckhannon, Clarksburg and Bridgeport, WV passed away peacefully at 2:46 AM Thursday, January 4, 2018 of heart failure. She was born on April 16, 1925 to Granville Dean and Nona Lee Lowe Dean. She was married on April 20, 1946 to the love of her life, Billy J. Rogers who preceded her in death on September 6, 2008. They were married for a little over 62 years. She was the last surviving member of her Dean family having been preceded in death by 6 brothers and their spouses including Gilford and wife Esta, Clatis and wife Maude, Clifford and wife Mildred, Wilmer and wife Helen, Emerson and wife Helen and William Dean and 4 sisters, Eula Dean, Marie Gibson and husband Troy, Oleta Allman and husband John B. and Tretha and husband Hilbert. She also was pre-deceased by twin grandsons, Donovan and Jonathan Hight. She enjoyed the annual Dean reunion held in Buckhannon, WV and reconnecting with many nieces and nephews and over the last couple of years she found a love of flying from Myrtle Beach, SC to Clarksburg-Bridgeport to attend. She and Billy loved to square dance, bowl and having family picnics. She was first employed as a seamstress in Buckhannon for a pants manufacturer making uniform pants for the military during World War II. She also spent many years with Maidenform as a seamstress in Clarksburg, WV and later joined her husband in the operation of a parking lot and gas station next to Lowndes Bank in Clarksburg. She then retired to assist in the care of her mother and spent the next years as a housewife and mother. Surviving are 3 daughters Lovell Marie Rogers Phillips and husband Jim of Leland, Regenia K Rogers Hight and husband Paul of Clarksburg, and Marcia L Rogers Ball and husband Terry of Hampstead, NC. and one son, Billy J. Rogers – BJ and partner Curtis Anderson of Leland and a special niece, JoAnn Dean White and husband Larry of Stonewood, WV. She also is survived by 5 grandchildren, Christina Hight Wolford (Kevin), Kathy Hight Scheutzow (Mike), Erick Hight (Juanita), Casey Ball (Becca), and Andrea Phillips Garner and 16 great grandchildren. She was Methodist by faith. Friends will be received Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM at the funeral home with Richard Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Methodist Church Cemetery following service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mt. Hermon Church Cemetery Fund c/o Holt Poling 46 Saratoga Drive Buckhannon, WV 26201. Our many thanks to the great nurses and doctors that cared for her during this time, especially nurses Mel on 8th floor and Nicole in ICU. They were caring beyond a job.
