Obituary of Richard Lynn Wagner

Richard Lynn Wagner, age 62, of Buckhannon, WV, died Monday, March 27, 2017, in the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. He was born March 23, 1955 in Buckhannon, a son of Shirley Mae Dulaney Wagner of High Point, NC and the late Billy Junior Wagner. On November 6, 1982, he married Vanessa Kim Burgess who survives. In addition to his mother and wife he is survived by one son, Kenneth Neil Wagner of Buckhannon; one daughter, Lindsey Gail Wagner of Norlina, NC; one granddaughter, Melody Paige Kessler of Norlina; one brother, Daniel Wagner of High Point; three sisters, Teresa Borcheck and husband Michael of Maitland, FL, Lorna Johnson and husband Robin of Eustis, FL and Donna Woods of High Point; sister in law, Vicky Hauri and husband Edward of Springville, NY; special cousins, Frank and Terry Dulaney both of Jamestown, NY; several other special cousins, nieces and nephews; special friend, Diana Brookes of Jamestown; special aunt, Rosalie Lewis of Ravenswood, WV and special uncle, Maynard Wagner of Jamestown. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his father in law and mother in law, Kenneth and Janet Roberts Burgess. Rick graduated in 1973 from Fillmore Central School in Fillmore, NY where he played varsity baseball, basketball and soccer. He attended Houghton College in Houghton, NY. He then moved back to Buckhannon, to be a maintenance supervisor at Ev Un Breth Acres for the United Methodist Youth Camp and to be with his family. He started his own business of Skylite Sattlelite Systems which was the first business of its kind in WV. Rick enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Flat Rock Hunting Club. Rick was instrumental in helping construct the Little League Baseball/Softball fields in Tennerton. He and his wife were members of the LL Board of Directors and Rick was active in mentoring kids and coaching baseball for 8 years. He was passionate about music, going to concerts with his family and being outdoors. He collected and restored American muscle cars. He fulfilled his dream of exploring to Alaska and spending time with his 14 month old granddaughter Melody Paige. Friends will be received Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Joseph M. Shreve officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Hodgesville, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
