Obituary of Lavina Doris Wendell

Lavina Doris Wendell, age 94, of Elkins, WV died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Colonial Place in Elkins. She was born September 11, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA, a daughter of the late Joseph Jacob and Sophie Christina Boehmler Knable. On April 25, 1942 she married James Herbert Wendell who preceded her in death on July 15, 1992. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Wendell and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by one daughter, Ginny and husband LeRoy Dixon, Jr. of Buckhannon, WV; one son, Kenny Wendell and wife Carol of Philadelphia; two grandsons, Damon Wendell of Feasterville, PA and Tom Wendell of Philadelphia; four granddaughters, Beth Scarlatta and husband Jason, Caitlin Myslinski and husband Mike and Michelle Wendell all of Philadelphia and Kirsten Wendell of Feasterville; one great-granddaughter, Jane Myslinski of Philadelphia and daughter in law, Carol Thompson of Feasterville. Mrs. Wendell was a member of the Pocono Mtn. Women’s Club, a former Read-Aloud volunteer, she enjoyed making greeting cards and she was a member of a singing group that would perform for nursing home residents. Mrs. Wendell was a joy to everyone who knew and loved her. She was very active in her community and the Faith Lutheran Church in Blakeslee, PA.
