Mildred “Millie” Loretta Lewis, age 89, of Bryan Foster Road, Buckhannon, WV, passed away peacefully at home on April 23, 2017. She was born September 4, 1927 in Alton, WV a daughter of the late Leslie Walker and Sadie Wamsley Davis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Rev. Samuel E. “Ped” Lewis, her infant daughter Bethy Lewis; a grandson, Dr. Dennis Paul “P.J.” Zickefoose; one son-in-law, Paul L. Zickefoose; one brother, Jack Davis; four sisters, Victoria McClain, Jessie Bennett, Maggie Rechel and Louise Hamner. She is survived by two sons, Samuel E. Lewis, Jr., wife Donna and daughter Emily Kelley, Rev. Timothy M. Lewis, wife Beverly and children Nathan, Erica Baker and Zachary; five daughters, Barbara Ann Zickefoose of Elkins, Vicki Lynn Cutright, husband Robert and children Chris, Jamie Blake and Seth, Bekki J. Leigh, husband Mark and children Ben and Mackenzie, Dr. Sara Jane Stankus, husband Steve and children Hannah, Leah and Isaac, Michelle I. Wilcher, husband Chad and son Will Twigg; one sister, Donnas Koon and husband Claude of Salem, OH; eleven great-grandchildren, children of the home, Sandy Davis of Buckhannon, Kerry Davis of Buckhannon, Ross Davis of Helvetia and Debbie Bennett of Beverly. Mrs. Lewis was retired from Upshur County Schools where she shared her endless love of children. She was an active member of Tallmansville CEO’s, has enjoyed farming, caring for her animals, gardening and being outdoors. She dedicated her life to God, family and community; including her beloved church family of Tallmansville Baptist Church where she was a devoted member. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Wednesday at the Tallmansville Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Lewis and the Rev. Chad Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery in Queens, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
