Obituary of Alice Garnetta Gooden

Alice Garnetta Gooden, age 96, of Buckhannon, WV died Sunday, May 21, 2017, at her home. She was born June 29, 1920, in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Robert Allen and Blanche Mills Tenney. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Gooden on August 2, 1993; an infant son, Jamie Gooden and one daughter, Sue Beale. Surviving are four sons, Timothy Gooden and wife Debbie and Frank Gooden and wife Bonnie all of Buckhannon, Darrel Gooden and wife Cindy of Kesling Mill, WV and Dave Gooden and wife Idress of Hinkleville, WV; four daughters, Faye Cole and husband Keith Lee of AR, Linda Freeman and husband Leon of Greenville, SC and Camilla Hornbeck and husband Carrol and Barbara Hamilton all of Buckhannon; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Gooden was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Union United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Wednesday, May 24, 2017, from 5 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Thursday at the Mt. Union United Methodist Church in Buckhannon with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery.
