Mescal M. Wamsley Pugh, age 98, of Buckhannon, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 11, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Nursing Care Facility in Buckhannon. She was born January 27, 1919 in Queens, WV, a daughter of the late Albert and Lelah Amy Hoover Wamsley. On January 27, 1942 she married Dallas K. Pugh who preceded her in death on January 24, 1983. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and sister in laws, infant Morris Wamsley, Simon and Stella Koon Wamsley and Doyle and Maxine Perry Wamsley and one sister and brother in law, Ruth and Rev. Don C. Taylor. She is survived by one son, Ronald J. and wife Sue Walton Pugh and one daughter, Sharlette Pugh Abel and husband Jerry all of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Aimee Pugh Harris and husband Jim of Morgantown, WV, Jennifer Abel of Christiansburg, VA and Alicia Pugh George and husband Chris of Bridgeport, WV; two grandsons, Jeffery and wife Julie Fincham Abel of Estes Park, CO and Gregory and wife Bobbi Carr Abel of Elkins, WV; seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her family. Mrs. Pugh was a member of the Tennerton United Methodist Church since 1945. During the three years that she lived with her daughter, prior to going to live at St. Joseph’s NCF, she attended Liberty Baptist Church of Buckhannon. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, gardening and growing flowers. Next to Jesus Christ, her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joys in her life. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery in Hampton, WV where her body will be placed beside the grave of her loving husband. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upshur County Parish House at 68 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201 or the Tennerton United Methodist Church in Buckhannon or your favorite charity.
