Obituary of Charles G. Wamsley

Charles G. Wamsley, age 73, of Buckhannon, WV died on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 17, 1943 in Buckhannon, a son of the late Ray and Dolly Koon Wamsley. On January 4, 1964 he married Phyllis Ellen Beam who preceded him in death on January 23, 2009. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wamsley; a daughter, Shelia (Wamsley) Byrd; seven brothers, Willard, Odel, Garnett, Ronnie, Dennis, Danny and Carrol Wamsley; and a sister, Ruth Gower. He is survived by a son, Randell Wamsley and wife Ausencia of Lexington, NC; two grandsons, Elijah and Ethan Wamsley both of Lexington; three brothers, Jim Wamsley of Geneva, OH, Douglas Wamsley of Ellamore, WV and Tom Wamsley of Buckhannon; two sisters, Glenna Fletcher of Elkins, WV and Araawana Tenney of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wamsley was a tool pusher in the oil fields and was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 5-8 PM. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday at the Sand Run Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Butcher and Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
