Obituary of Evelyn Pauline Simmons Dowell

Evelyn Pauline Simmons Dowell, age 87, of Buckhannon, WV died Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins, WV. She was born January 20, 1930 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Ray Cutright and Pauline Trembley Cutright Evans. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Simmons and second husband, James Dowell. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Roxanne Harlow and husband Jim of Buckhannon and Vera “Vicki” Newlon of Cleveland, OH; three sons, Robert “Bob” Simmons of Buckhannon, Donald Wayne Simmons and wife Markeeta of Weston, WV and Steven “Steve” Wesley Simmons of Cleveland; two step sons, James Dowell and wife Louise of Buckhannon and Roger Dowell and wife Candy; two step daughters, Barbara Shipley and husband Randy of Buckhannon and Camilla Crites and husband Tom of Abbott, WV; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Cutright of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dowell was a clerk. She enjoyed camping, fishing and dancing. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at WV Caring Hospice and ERCC. Friends will be received Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 5-7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery in Buckhannon.
