Obituary of Richard Rexroad

Richard A. “Dick” Rexroad 73, of Buckhannon departed this life peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, August 4, 2017. He was born on October 1, 1943 in Williamstown, New Jersey to the late Clarence Arden and Iris Genevieve Heavner Rexroad. Mr. Rexroad was a bus terminal manager at Trailways in Philadelphia, PA for several years before moving back to Buckhannon where he was a landman in the Oil and Gas Industry for 40 years. He was also co-owner of Cardinal Realty in Philippi, WV and owner of Prime Country Realty and Rexroad Land Services. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Alma C. Gould Rexroad, daughters Danielle Rexroad (fiancé Ashley Smith) and Kendra Knight both of Buckhannon. Five grandchildren; Desirae Lindow, Drea Rexroad, Autumn Knight, Brandon Knight, and Katie Mae Knight all of Buckhannon. One sister Alice Faye McIntire of Myrtle Beach, SC, one brother David (Lynne) Rexroad , one brother in law Ron Egleston of Westfield, MA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister Emma Lee Egleston. Mr. Rexroad was an avid member of the Buckhannon Elks Lodge, once serving as Exhaulted Ruler, The Moose Lodge, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He loved singing karaoke, playing golf, spending winters in SW Florida, and cheering on the WV Mountaineers and the Philadelphia Eagles. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be sent to the Upshur County Humane Society, P.O. Box 2292, Buckhannon WV, 26201. Friends will be received Monday, August 7, 2017 from 6 to 9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
