Obituary of Mildred E. Helton

Mildred E. Helton, age 101, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Sherry Sellars Personal Care Home in Jane Lew, WV. She was born December 18, 1916 in Barbour County, WV, a daughter of the late Hurshel P. and Maude Belle Zirkle Wilson. On January 28, 1939 she married Russell Wade Helton who preceded her in death on June 21, 1977. She is survived by one son, Russell Helton, Jr. of Buckhannon; one sister, Ilene Cook of Currituck, NC and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Jean Helton; two sisters, Lucreta Chwastyk and Virginia Brooks and six brothers, Dr. Elzie, Vergil, Jesse, Nelson, Mendel and Joe Wilson. Mrs. Helton was the owner of Helton Reality and a member of First Baptist Church in Buckhannon. She was a former member of Beltsville Baptist Church in Maryland and a life member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post #5727 in Maryland. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Friday, February 16, 2018 from 5 PM to 7 PM, the funeral hour with Pastor Jay Teodoro officiating. Burial will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in the Union Cemetery Association in Burtonsville, MD. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
