Clinton L. Mick Clinton Lynn Mick Clinton Lynn Mick, age 65, of Hackers Creek Road, Buckhannon, WV departed this life November 26, 2014. Clinton was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hicks Mick. They celebrated 30 years of marriage. He was born January 7, 1949 on Hackers Creek to the late Felton Scott and Dorsey Hinkle Mick. Clint is survived by three sons, Ronnie, Stewart Mullens and Robert “Bobby” Rogers all of Hackers Creek; one daughter, Linda Rogers Arbogast and husband Roger of Horner, WV; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters, Caroline “Fern” Jones of New Philadelphia, OH and Shirley Messenger and husband Jim of Berlin, WV; one brother, Rev. Billee Scott Mick of Buckhannon; Brothers-in-law, Larry Furr of Hackers Creek, James “Steve” Hicks of Volga, WV, Mike and wife Yukie Hicks of Jane Lew, WV and Robert “Bud” Hicks and wife Barbara of Grottoes, VA; sisters-in-law, Carol “Annie” Higgins and husband George of FL, Carolyn “Susie” Campbell and husband Steve of Buckhannon, Margie Mick, Spartanburg, SC, Lumina Mick, Perry Hall of Maryland, Linda Mick Chapman of Hackers Creek. In addition to his wife Alice, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Lea Rogers Howard; his brothers, George O. Mick, Felton Jr. “Skip” Mick, Thomas O. Mick and infant brother, Jesse A. Mick and his sisters, Millie Adams, Betty M. Furr and one sister-in-law, Oleta Mick, one nephew, Christopher Mick and brother-in-laws, Donald Lynn Hicks, Franklin Eugene Hicks and William “Whimpy” Hicks. Clint served 13 months in the Vietnam War as a rifleman with the First Cavalry Division (air mobile) in 1969. He was in many major battles there and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was employed at Corhart Refactories in Buckhannon until he retired after 30 plus years of service. He was faithful and active member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Hackers Creek where he served on the board of trustees as Financial Secretary for many years. Clint was a great story teller and will long be remembered by his family and friends for his stories. He often acted out as he told them, especially the ones of Vietnam. He was also known for his very dry wit. Clint was always ready and willing to give a helping hand to his family, friends, neighbors or anyone in need. He lived his Christian Faith. He loved his family, friends, dogs, horses, muscle cars, working, reading and visiting friends and family and he loved to work on his farm. Clint also loved and took exceptional care of his wife before her passing but mostly Clint will be remembered for being the “Dad” he didn’t have to be. We are all so blessed to have had him for his 65 years. Friends will be received Friday, May 29, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ronald C. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the McVaney Cemetery in Hackers Creek. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
