Amelia Ann Young McCoy Amelia Ann Young McCoy Amelia Ann Young McCoy, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at her home in Buckhannon. She was born March 21, 1926 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Linwood and Edith McClung Young. On August 30, 1949 she married Gerald Davis McCoy who preceded her in death on June 3, 1986. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her biological father, Thomas R. McClung; biological mother, Martha McClung; two brothers, Wayne and Thomas Earl McClung and a special friend, Samuel Van Horn, Sr. She is survived by one son, Patrick McCoy and wife Dana of Ashland, KY; two granddaughters, Cara Richardson and husband Tim of Arlington, VA and Megan Springer and husband Nick of Guysville, OH; one great-granddaughter, Annica Richardson of Arlington; one great-grandson, Jacob Springer of Guysville; one step granddaughter, Christine Schlesser; one step grandson, Alex Schlesser; former daughter in law, Debra McCoy of Athens, OH; several nieces and nephews; care givers, Irene Smith and Nancy Humphrey both of Buckhannon and a friend, Samuel Van Horn, Jr. and wife Denise of Annapolis, MD. Mrs. McCoy was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was the past President and member of the Buckhannon Country Club, where she was a former women’s golf champion and a lifetime member of the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary. She loved sports, college basketball and football, golf, the Mountaineers and reading. She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from WVWC in May of 1946. Mrs. McCoy went on to receive her Master’s Degree from WVU in 1977. She was a long time teacher and Vice Principal at BUHS, retiring in 1992. She also taught at Bunnell High School in Florida and in Lewis County, WV. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald M. McCauley and the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
