Doris A. Moss, 73, of Republic, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus. Doris was born March 13, 1941 in Buckhannon, W. VA, to Hugh and Mattie G. (Siron) Shobe. On February 12, 1971, she married Kenneth Moss in Tampa, Florida. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1994. Survivors include: two sons, Samuel K. (Terri) Smallwood of Hurricane, W. VA, and Aeric K. (Tina Groves) Smallwood of Republic; two brothers, William F. (Nancy) Shobe of Buckhannon, W. VA., and David H. (Becky) Shobe of Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Moss and her parents Hugh and Mattie Shobe. Doris owned and operated Kay’s Beauty Salon in Republic for 47 years. She was an avid sprint car and NASCAR fan, and her favorite drivers were Steve Kinser and Dale Earnhardt. She enjoyed visiting and taking care of her house and farm in West Virginia, and she also enjoyed collecting antiques. Doris was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary # 3663 in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Her funeral services in Bloomville will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at 11:00 Am., at the Lindsey – Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. State Route 19, Bloomville, with Pastor Clarence Edward Mullins Jr. officiating, and services at the Straight Fork United Methodist at Rock Cave, will be Friday June 27, 2014 at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Straight Fork United Methodist Cemetery, in Rock Cave, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at the Lindsey – Olds Funeral Home, and from 10:00am 12:00pm Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Straight Fork United Methodist Church. The Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home of Buckhannon is in charge of the local arrangements.
