Alma Miller Alma S. Miller Alma S. Miller, age 89, of Concord, NC died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Universal Health Care in Concord. She was born June 12, 1924 in McKeesport, PA, a daughter of the late Dr. George Morgan and Mary Elizabeth Halvaty Stewart. On March 19, 1966 she married Robert Ray Miller who survives. In addition to her husband she is survived by one sister, Joan S. Thayer and husband Lester of Pittsburgh, PA; one niece, Dr. Pamela Smith and husband Tom of Raleigh, NC; one nephew, Daniel Thayer and wife Barbara of Pittsburgh; one great niece, Alyssa Thayer of Pittsburgh and three great nephews, Garrett Smith of Baltimore, MD, Jason Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Danny Thayer of Pittsburgh. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Alderdice High School Alumni Assoc. She retired from the Marine Corps. Exchange System in Camp Lejeune, NC. after 20 years of service. Alma will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She loved her poodles, Sammie, Cody and Shallie. Friends will be received Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
