untitled2 Reta May Murphy Reta May Murphy, age 95, of Rock Cave, WV died Sunday, August 28, 2011 at her home. She was born February 12, 1916 in WV, a daughter of the late Emmit and Nona Bell Tenney Simmons. On May 28, 1932 she married David Harrison Murphy who preceded her in death on August 30, 1984. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sons, Eugene, James and Danny Murphy; one daughter, Janet Godfrey; infant daughter, Grace Ann Murphy and two brothers, Jimmy and Donnie Simmons. She is survived by six daughters, Pearl Chidester and husband Ray of Rock Cave, Louise Gregory and husband Lee of Buckhannon, Jessie Ruth Anderson of Rock Cave, Wilma Dillie and husband Rick of Heavner Grove, WV, Mary Jane Peck of Rock Cave and Pamela Green and husband John of Rock Cave; three sons, Virgil Murphy and wife Patricia of Eden, WV, Ralph Murphy and wife Genevea of Gettysburg, PA and Robert Murphy of Columbia, SC; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Simmons and wife Betty of Pickens, WV, Purly Simmons of Pickens and Sherwood Simmons of Buckhannon and four sisters, Delma Howes of Cleveland, OH, Junie McClure of Pickens, Mary McClure of Palace Valley, WV and Clara Bell Friend and husband Eli of Gaines, WV. Mrs. Murphy was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 10-11 AM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor David Jesse and the Rev. Michael Tallman officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson Cemetery at Replete, WV.
