untitled1 Visitation Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 1-2 PM Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Funeral Services Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 2 PM Funeral Home Sylvia Modesitt Sylvia Modesitt, age 59, of Elizabeth, WV died Friday, August 13, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Parkersburg, WV. She was born August 24, 1950 in Upshur County, WV, a daughter of the late Glen and Margaret Sandy. On April 7, 2007 she married Harold Modesitt who survives. Also, surviving are three sons, Philip Rushing of Port Lavaca, TX, Rodney Rushing and wife Debbie of Buckhannon, WV and Floyd Edward Roby of Huttonsville, WV; two daughters, Phyllis Rushing of Clarksburg, WV and Katrina Sandy of Buckhannon; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Sandy of Savannah, GA and Ira “Bud” Sandy of Port Lavaca, TX; two step sons, Tellie Gibson and Dale Wingfield both of Buckhannon and a son in law Dave Lower of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Rebecca Roby and one sister, Deloris Sandy. Mrs. Modesitt was a homemaker. She was a Baptist by faith. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from 1-2 PM the funeral hour with the Rev. Wease Day officiating.
