Melba June Linger Visitation Tuesday, February 3, 2015 6-8 PM Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Lie in State & Funeral Service Wednesday, February 4, 2015 10-11 AM Firstunited Methodist Church Burial Heavner Cemetery Melba June Smith Linger Melba June Smith Linger, age 88, of Bridgeport, WV died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday January, 31, 2015 her 88th birthday at The Heritage in Bridgeport after a long illness. She is a daughter of the late W. Hartsel and Sophronia Elizabeth Phillips Smith. On September 3, 1947 she married Elbert Leon Linger who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Garret Leon Linger and wife Brenda of St. Leonard, MD and Timothy Ross Linger and wife Kathy of Wallace, WV; one daughter, Aletta L. Moffett and husband Robert R. of Fairmont, WV; seven grandsons; one granddaughter; one great grandson; 8 great granddaughters; one brother, William Hartsel Smith, Jr. of Buckhannon; two sisters, Elizabeth Ellen Froggett of Phoenix, AZ and Winona Aylestock of VA and a twin sister, Velma Bennett. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carol Annette Linger. Melba was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. She was a former youth Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Wesley Bible Study Group at First UMC and a member of the Aux. to the Harrison Co. Medical Society. Friends will be received Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Mrs. Linger will Lie in State from 10-11 AM Wednesday the funeral hour at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Meadows and the Rev. Billee Scott Mick officiating.
