RaikesViolet Violet Tressie Raikes Violet Tressie Raikes, age 90, Rock Cave, WV, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born July 5, 1917 in Canaan, WV a daughter of the late Parley Harrison and Effie Gay Haymond Strader. She is survived by her husband, Bland Raikes; one son, Roger B. Raikes of Rock Cave; two daughters, Susan Post and husband Kevin of Hodgesville, WV and Robin Chidester and husband Dale of Buckhannon, WV; two grandsons, Kelvin Post of Hodgesville, Dustin Chidester of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Ieshya Claypool and husband Russell of Hodgesville and Miranda Chidester of Elkins, WV; two great grandsons, Damien Claypool and Ashton Post both of Hodgesville; one step great grandson, Chace Cogar of Illinois; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Dowell; and one brother, Ted Strader. Violet was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. Friends will be received 4-8 PM, Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday, with the Reverend Eugene Helmick at the funeral home.
