untitled3 Reginald W. “Shorty” Long On October 21, 2011 at 12:45 AM., Reginald W. “Shorty” Long of 17 Fairway Court, Deland, FL passed peacefully into eternity at Florida Deland Hospital, with his wife by his side. He was born in Buckhannon on May 22, 1924, the son of the late John and Ola Duncan Long. He is survived by his wife Pat, two sons, James (Cindy) and Patrick (Susan) of Buckhannon; two daughters, Linda Long Kaze (Bob) of Glasgow, Scotland and Laura (Mark) Adams of Charlottesville, VA; five grandchildren, Jim (Sarah) of Charleston, Jonah (Terri) of Hermitage, PA, Jessica of Huntington, Kyle (Svetlana) and Caitlin of Glasgow, Scotland; five great-grandchildren, Carrie, Charlie and Grace of Charleston and Allie and Trenton of Hermitage. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Brad. Reg was a railroad conductor for 45 years and after his retirement in 1989 he moved to Parkersburg. While visiting old Buckhannon neighbors in Florida he spent some time in Deland and learned to play bridge. He was a member of the Deland Bridge Club and also of Bridge Clubs in Parkersburg. He was delighted to attain the rank of Life Master. In 2004 he donated his body to the WV University School of Medical Science. A gathering of remembrance will be held in the Veteran’s Pavilion at the Veteran’s Cemetery Addition of the Buckhannon Memorial Park Cemetery on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 1 PM.
