Obituary of Alva H. Bennett

BennettAlva Alva H. Bennett Alva H. Bennett, age 78, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at his home. He was born August 31, 1929 in Upshur Co., WV a son of the late Howard Martin and Ethel Radcliff Bennett. On September 12, 1953 he married Anna Susan Bailey who preceded him in death on December 28, 2006. Also preceding him in death were one son, Marty Bennett; seven brothers, Howard Bennett, Jr., Bobby Bennett, Ray Bennett, Jimmy Bennett, Billy Bennett, Arthur Bennett and Willis Bennett; two sisters, Anna Mae Ware and Mary Frances Small; one granddaughter, Lisa Robinson; and one great granddaughter, Tanisha Robinson. He is survived by four daughters, LaDonna Perry & husband Roger, Diane Robinson & husband David, Sharon Robinson & husband Rusty and Sandra Linger & husband Phillip all of Buckhannon; one son, Roger Bennett of Buckhannon; ten grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Lee Roy Bennett & wife Wanda of Buckhannon and three sisters, Grace Cogar, Jean Linger both of Buckhannon and Linda Perry & husband Jim of Gastonia, NC. Mr. Bennett served in the US Army during the Korean War, was a retired coal Miner and was a member of Christian Fellowship Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Monday, May 19, 2008 from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, May 20 at the funeral home with the Rev. J.
