BeerJames James M. “Chub” Beer James M. “Chub” Beer, age 89, of Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at his home. He was born May 6, 1918 in Sago, WV, a son of the late Kenner and Nettie M. Grubb Beer. On December 10, 1942 he married Susan Katherine Shahan Beer who preceded him in death on July 8, 2007. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Maxell Lee Beer and one sister, Elizabeth Beer. He is survived by two sons, James M. Beer, II and wife Barbara of Morgantown, WV and Stephen K. Beer of Morgantown; two step granddaughters, Autumn McDaniel of Morgantown and Amber Nearranzio of Latrobe, PA and four step great-grandchildren. Mr. Beer was a retired manager for Columbia Gas, a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, also a member of the Masonic Lodge in PA. He served with the Army Air Force during WW II and with the 322nd Bombardier Group. He was a member of the Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Disabled Veterans and the Buckhannon Country Club. Friends will be received Sunday, April 27, 2008 from 5-7 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Stackpole officiating. Burial will follow in the Hampton Church Cemetery. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion, DAV Chapters #5 & # 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
