Ethel Lee Hyre Johnston Ethel Lee Hyre Johnston Ethel Lee Hyre Johnston, age 85, of Rock Cave, WV died Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at her home. She was born January 26, 1930 in Frenchton, WV, a daughter of the late Herbert P. and Agnes Virginia McClain Hyre. On December 6, 1949 she married Johnnie Johnston who preceded her in death on October 6, 1994. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Johnston and three brothers, Jack Robert, Charles Edward and Herbert Hyre, Jr. Surviving are three sons, Paul Johnston and wife Debra of Rock Cave, Carl Johnston and wife Tina of Spotsylvania, VA and Mike Johnston and wife Cathy of Buckhannon, WV; three daughters, Karen Wendling and husband Fred and Mary Kay Arey and husband Kevin all of Buckhannon and Jackie Gibson and husband Gene of Wilmington, NC; fifteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Johnston was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Friday, October 23, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Heavner and Pastor Ed Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Dale Church Cemetery in Selbyville, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
