Orval R. Hinzman
Orval R. Hinzman, age 81, of Buckhannon, WV died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born October 12, 1929 in Berlin, WV, a son of the late Roy and Chaffie Warner Hinzman. On July 28, 1956 he married Anna Jean Reese who survives. Also surviving are one son, Daniel R. Hinzman and wife Sandra E. of Buckhannon; twin grandchildren, Jacob R. Hinzman and Kelsey M. Hinzman both of Buckhannon; two brothers, Hayward Hinzman and wife Emilie of Lewisburg, WV and John B. Hinzman and wife Joan of Weston, WV; two sisters, Maxine Smith of Greenbelt, MD and Betty Cottrill and husband James of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; two sisters-in-law, Janith Hinzman of Bridgeport, WV and Lois Taylor of Ft. Myers, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Hinzman and his twin brother, Norval Hinzman and one sister, Dorothy Taylor. Mr. Hinzman, was an area superintendent for Columbia Gas Co., and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. Mr. Hinzman was a 1948 graduate from Jane Lew High School. He was a 50-year member of the Franklin Lodge #7 AF & AM, a member of the Upshur County Shrine Club and Buckhannon Knights of Pythias. Orval enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and was an avid sports fan particularly the WVU Mountaineers. Friends will be received Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Joseph M. Shreve officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Weston. Lewis County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside, along with the Franklin Lodge #7 AF & AM will conducting Masonic graveside rites. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Orval’s memory to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church or the Upshur Co. Shrine Club.
