untitled1 John Noah Hoover John Noah Hoover, age 74, of Buckhannon, WV, the Tennerton Community died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at his home, under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice, after an extended illness. He was born June 3, 1935 at Big Bend Ridge, WV, a son of the late Ira “Ike” and Flora Ratcliff Hoover. On December 24, 1954 he married Della June Shipman who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Johnny W. Hoover and wife Natalie of Vance, AL and Jerry Hoover and wife Jeanan of Buckhannon; one daughter, Barbara June Reed and husband Bill of Buckhannon; three grandsons, Thad Reed and wife Paula of Buckhannon, Travis Reed and wife Heather of Albright, WV and Cole Hoover of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Della A. Stephenson and husband Billy of McCalla, AL, Sherri Minich and husband Jim of New Bethlehem, PA and Jordan Hoover of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, Tevon Minich of New Bethlehem; one great-granddaughter, Shaileen Minich of New Bethlehem; two brothers, Lyndell Hoover and wife Patty of French Creek, WV and Raymond Junior Hoover and wife Diane of Buckhannon; one sister, Retha Armstrong of French Creek and two sisters in law, Diana and Gwen Hoover both of Rittman, OH. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Attley and Robert Hoover and one sister, Violet Elbon. John was a coal miner, employed at Upshur Coals Corp. He also worked for the City of Buckhannon. He was a long time member of the Upshur County REACT Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and many years with his CB radio friends. He also enjoyed camping with his children and grandchildren. He was a western square dancer. He was a member of the Pairs and Squares of Weston, The Strawberry Pairs of Buckhannon and Centennial Squares of Lost Creek, WV. His greatest joy was playing stand up bass with his band, The Country Travelers, for 25 years. He was a Christian by faith, attended the Tennerton United Methodist Church and was a member of the Big Bend United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 5-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Church Cemetery at Big Bend, WV. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice in memory of John Noah Hoover.
