Thomas Burton Pumphrey, Sr.
Thomas Burton Pumphrey, Sr., age 58, formerly of Oldfield's, WV and resided in Buckhannon, WV died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at his home. He was born February 27, 1957 in Clarksburg, WV, a son of the late Herbert Lee Pumphrey, Sr. and Mary Cathleen Phillips Pumphrey of Ellamore, WV. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Thomas Pumphrey, Jr. and wife Christy of Ellamore and Todd Pumphrey of Purgitsville, WV; two daughters, Patricia Renee Kimble and husband Dale E. of Moorefield, WV and Amanda L. Pumphrey and fiancé Jonathan P. Thomas of Fisher, WV; five grandsons, Tommy L. Pumphrey of Ellamore, Quentin J. Crider of Fisher, Dalton E. Kimble of Moorefield, Josh W. Pumphrey of Purgitsville and Grayson M. Miller of Fisher; five granddaughters, Courtney F. Crider of Fisher, Ashleigh H. Kimble of Moorefield, Kierra F. Pumphrey of Ellamore, Jessica N. Pumphrey of Purgitsville and Mayleigh E. Thomas of Fisher; one brother, Herbert Lee Pumphrey, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Madison, OH; two sisters, Linda J. Matthews and husband David of Winchester, VA and Connie J. Talbott of Rutledge, TN and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one nephew Timothy Lee Pumphrey. Mr. Pumphrey was the owner of Pumphrey Lumber. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the NRA and the North American Fishing Club. Thomas was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Friends will be received Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 5-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Tallmansville, WV. The Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the graveside.
