Obituary of Clara Edna McCartney Gould

Clara Gould Clara Edna McCartney Gould Clara Edna McCartney Gould, Age 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Holbrook’s Nursing Home. She was born April 11, 1929 in Cherry Fork, WV a daughter of the late William Clarence and Sarah Edna Elizabeth Fornash McCartney. On October 10, 1951 she married Joseph Gould who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Keith L. Gould and wife Louise of French Creek, WV, Ronald Gould and wife Juetta of Westernport, MD and Terry Gould and wife Kim of Big Bend, WV; three grandsons, Greg Gould of Frostburg, MD, Brad Gould of Crawford, WV and Dr. Michael Gould of Keyser, WV; three granddaughters, Melissa Gould of Webster Springs, WV, Erin Perry and husband Tim of French Creek and Amber Beckner of Buckhannon; two step-grandchildren; eight great grandsons, Doug Gould and Johnathan and Andrew Perry all of French Creek, Liam Gabriel and Jessiah Michael Gould both of Keyser and Brandon, Brayden and Brok Gould all of Brushy Fork, WV; two great granddaughters, Megyn Gould of Crawford and Paisley Beckner of Brushy Fork; three sisters, Goldie Chapman of Hodgesville, WV, Flora Westfall of Nutter Fort, WV and Roselea Tenney of Huntington, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six brothers, Trexel, Charles, Carl, Donald, Perry and Roscoe McCartney and four sisters, Anna Cutright, Thucie Smith, Sarah Chapman and Texie Perry Strader. Mrs. Gould was a homemaker and a member of the Indian Camp United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of BUHS with the class of 1950. Mrs. Gould sewed for Mountain Artisans and Appalachian Crafts. She was an avid quilter and made quilts for all her grandchildren. Mrs. Gould was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a loving person to everyone she met. Friends will be received Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day and Pastor Kara Phillippi officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery in Sago, WV. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
