untitled3 Virginia May Gaston Gemmill Virginia May Gaston Gemmill, age 95, entered and departed this world just a few blocks apart in Buckhannon, WV. She died August 28, 2013 at her home in Buckhannon. She was born October 30, 1917 at 53 College Ave to the late William Harvey and Ida May Lawson Gaston. She was the last remaining of their six children. On August 14, 1948 she married Albert Victor Gemmill Jr. who preceded her in death on May 19, 1990. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Anna Summers and husband Gary and Jane Casarotti and husband Tony; two grandsons, Jonathan and Jeffrey Summers; two granddaughters, Erin Casarotti and Emily Straightiff and Husband Michael; one great grandson, Elijah Shelton and several nieces and nephews. She attended WVWC and was graduated from the University of Maryland. She worked for the DuPont Company in Seaford, Delaware prior to her marriage. In 1962, Virginia and Al moved the family to Buckhannon. She quickly became active in her community where she touched many lives for the rest of her life. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church, volunteering in various capacities. Soon after her return to Buckhannon, she became active with the outreach of the Magic Closet. She was a Brownie Girl Scout leader and a 4-H Club leader, provided transportation for church sponsored kindergarten students, provided delivery service with Meals on Wheels, volunteered with the Read Aloud program at East Main Street School and was a member of the Emeritus Club of WVWC and Church Women United. Friends will be received Friday, August 30, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Virginia will lie in state at the First United Methodist Church Saturday from 10-11 the funeral hour with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will be in the Round Hill Cemetery in East Hopewell Township, PA at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church 52 S Florida St. Buckhannon, WV 26201 or to the Albert V. Gemmill Scholarship Fund at WVWC (checks payable to WVWC) Office of Advancement 59 College Ave Buckhannon, WV 26201. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
