untitled2 Lee D. Gee, Jr. Lee D. Gee, Jr., of Buckhannon, Upshur County, WV, passed to his eternal home on August 16, 2011 while under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. Lee was born on June 6, 1944, in Wellsville, Allegany County, NY, the son of Lee D. Gee, Sr. and Evelyn Ethel Dean Gee. On March 28, 1964, Lee married the former Ruthine Taylor of Buckhannon. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Lee D. Sr. of Corry, PA and Evelyn E. Dean Gee Kislack and John Kislack of Niagara Falls, NY and is survived by Martha Gee of Corry, PA. Lee is survived by Ruthine Gee, his wife of 47 years, two daughters, Keturah and Ron Frye, Lelah and Robert Heater all of Buckhannon, grandchildren, Corey, Shane and Ally, Kari, Sean, Taylor, Nikki, Darren, and Rashelle, great grandchildren, Gracelyn, Kal, and Tatiana, all of Buckhannon; former exchange student Gerd and Christiane Kuhnen and daughter Zoe of Buhl, Germany; sisters, Evelyn Wilfong of IL, Valerie and Jim Arthur of Corry, PA, Valinda and Darrell Spencer of North East, PA, Vanessa and Jeff Hall of Dry Ridge, KY, and Valissa and Shawn Crosby of Erie, PA; brothers, Sam and Carole Gee of Corry, PA, Fred and Lorna Gee of Wattsburg, PA, Gordon and Kathy Gee of Beallsville, OH, Glenn and Michelle Gee of Erie, PA, special cousin, Darlene Pillz of Buckhannon, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful, kind, loving friends. Lee was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon. Lee earned his high school diploma from the American School in Chicago, IL. He also held an associate degree in Transportation Sciences from Rochfort University. Lee served in the US Army from 1962-1964, and was awarded an honorable discharge. He enlisted in the 119th Combat Support Engineers, Det 1 (Buckhannon) of the WV National Guards, having served in several locations in WV in time of emergency, and four tours of duty in Honduras, with several awards. He retired honorably after twenty years of service in the military. Other than seven years employment at the Upshur County Schools, Lee spent his working years as owner and operator of Gee Enterprises, which encompassed 35 states and 3 provinces of Canada. Friends will be received Friday, August 19, 2011 from 4-9 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery Veterans Section. Buckhannon VFW Post # 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post # 7 American Legion and DAV Chapters # 5 & 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorials to the Upshur County Parish House Food Pantry, 68 College Ave., Buckhannon, WV 26201.
