Obituary of Clifford Dale Francis

untitled1 CLIFFORD DALE FRANCIS Clifford Dale Francis, age 92, of Fairfax City, VA passed away at home on March 12, 2010. He was born July 27, 1917 in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Don Raymond and Nora Elizabeth (Strader) Francis. He is survived by his son, Clifford Larry Francis of Broad Run, Fauquier County, VA; his daughter, June Kuprijanow of Springfield, Fairfax County, VA; two sisters, Garnet Trent of Proctorville, Ohio and Hilda Howell of Grafton, Ohio; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 65 years, Ruth Queen Francis, and his second wife of 5 years, Mary Bode Goddard Francis. Mr. Francis joined the Federal Government in Washington, DC, in 1941 and sought an accounting degree at George Washington University. He retired as a Federal Auditor from the Department of Education after 30 years service. He was a World War II veteran and ran for Congress in West Virginia on the Republican ticket in 1950. He was a member of the Reger Chapel United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Everly Funeral Home, Fairfax, VA on March 16, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Funeral will be held on March 18, 2010 at the Reger Chapel Methodist Church, Brushy Fork, Buckhannon, WV at 11:00 A.M. with viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. prior to services. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contribution to your favorite charity or to the Reger Chapel Methodist Church is suggested.
